Just watched this on PaullinaSimons.com. Sigh. I love. I swore I was going to read something light..but now I think I have to read The Bronze Horseman again. How can I not after seeing this??? I think I'm getting the jitters. Where's my Kindle?!?
I know - isn't this awesome?! I hope you'll be on team Henry Cavill now for Alexander! :)
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking now that he is cast as Superman maybe if it and he does really well he'll have all kinds of pull now in the movie biz and he has to know about everyone wanting him to play Alexander. How awesome would it be if he was able to get this made somehow?
ReplyDeleteJust ordered Tatiana's Table! Can't wait! I'm hoping it will help my cooking. It will have to be magic, though! Ha!!
ReplyDelete:) Michelle
Ok that does it! I am reading it again. Henry Cavill is perfect for Alexander. I always thought he would make a good Roger Mac. Romola Garai would make a good Claire IMO. She did a wonderful job in the movie The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, where did you order from?
ReplyDeleteI bought my copy of Tatiana's Table a few years ago on Amazon used for less than $5 I think....the recipes are awesome but pretty complicated at least for me since I'm a terrible cook! I had to have hubby help since he enjoys and cooks way better than me. I did make the mac n cheese recipe and I had people tell me it was the best they've ever eaten!
ReplyDeleteTheresa-- I googled it and found it "20%" off on some website. Said it was new. Isn't that awful I don't even know where!!!! I can let you know when I get the shipment email... It ended up being $40 total with tax and shipping.

Henry Cavill IS Alexander!! I'm enjoying him on The Tudors (my new Netflix obsession).
ReplyDeleteWhoever plays Tania needs to be young and tiny, otherwise the whole vibe of the movie will be off. I have yet to see someone who really catches my eye for her. I like Romola Garai, but not for Tatiana.
I bought Tatiana's Table from AbeBooks. It was prob. $55. (I live in central Canada.......a wee ways from Australia.) Worth every stinkin' penny. The pot-roast will make you weep (I apologized to my family for 14yrs. of crappy pot-roasts), the Beef Stroganoff is unbelievable, Onion dip is amazing, Barley soup superb, need I go on? Oh, the hubby insists on Beergaritas whenever we have people over.............and when we don't.
ReplyDeleteOoooh Jennifer J - you're making my mouth water! The pot roast comment is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteEveryone - I have to say, I LOVE myself some Henry Cavill but he's not my Shura. He's FANTASTICO in The Tudors...and you should see him in The Count of Monte Cristo (he was a youngin' then...and Stephenie Meyer's visual inspiration for Edward Cullen).
I don't yet have an Alexander...but I'm thinking he'll be easier to find than Jamie Fraser. My Alexander must be HUGE - and his hair must be straight and spiky and military-esque. And he's got to be dark...but not too dark. This is where I run into problems when I do IMDB searches. They're either too dark or not dark enough.
OK I'm rambling, sorry...
Who cares about Alexander? It's Tania that has to be perfect... ;) It's going to be tough to come up with the right 2... but movie magic can overcome size difference issues.
ReplyDeleteClay,
ReplyDeletesize matters.........how many times must I say this? Ha, j/k, sort of....
Love your male POV, BTW. It's neat to see novels from a male perspective. (did I just say "neat"?)
Carol,
you really can't imagine how good this "cookbook" is. Have you ever cried in the supermarket before? Honestly, it's crazy. Bring tissues, take Advil.
The Keira Knightley/Sienna Miller bits in this clip look to be from 2008's "The Edge of Love" about poet Dylan Thomas' love triangle while the Jude Law appearances are from 2001's "Enemy at the Gates."
ReplyDeleteRomola Garai's appearances are from "Mary Bryant" (2005) and "Glorious 39" (2009...red sweater).
