A Song in the Daylight

Has anyone read A Song in the Daylight?  I finished two days ago and - no matter how hard I try - I cannot begin to kick these characters out of my brain.

  1. Yes, and yes.
I've no idea how Paullina does it. She makes me think and feel things my tiny brain (and heart) have never even considered.

    Wait until you read "Tully".

  2. I was just sayin', on MOP, that Tully really messed with my head.

Now I really want to read A Song in the Daylight.

  4. Honest to God, you guys...A Song in the Daylight has messed with my head way worse than The Bronze Horseman series. I'm obsessed and I think it's getting worse, not better!

SPOILER: Can't stop thinking about Larissa...Kai...Jared...UGH! It's maddening. The end was just so mind-blowing - I can't stop thinking of different scenarios...or how horrific it was...HE was...ugh. I just CAN'T read books and not blog about them. It's impossibility. I need to GET IT OUT! LOL

  6. LOL Hildy. I WISH! I did email her a "thank you" to let her know I got the books and when I finished "A Song in the Daylight". But that was just me emailing her and babbling. LOL!!

I posted on the message board on paullinasimons.com...but I am waiting for someone to see the posts and reply! I feel like I'm late to the party over there. A lot of the discussions are from 2009, 2010. That's why I have to talk the book up here so you guys will read it and commiserate with me!! ;)

  7. Some of the discussions on the books and FB pages are a little old - until you started your blog, Carol, I felt like I had nowhere to read about and vent about TBH and how amazing it was!
And of course, my library doesn't have "A song in the daylight" - sometimes Paullina's books seem harder to find than a freaking Gutenberg bible. I really don't understand this!

  8. Sirena,
lol!!! What do you think the problem is with access to her books? The publisher(s)??? Why wouldn't they want to make money from her books? I'm confused............... (not to mention broke from paying $55 (each) for The Bridge to Holy Cross and Tatiana's Table!! Ha!)

  9. Sirena - is it checked out or do they not carry it? If it's the latter, you can tell them you would love to see some Paullina Simons - maybe they'll order some for you?

  10. Hey Carol! I'm 2 years behind...eek. I know what you mean about needing to get it out there - I just force my colleague at work to read my books so that I can discuss them! As per your suggestion, I read A song in the Daylight - OMG!!! So hectic. It started off very mildly, but that end??? Not sure if you can still remember it? My first impression was that I had to message you! This book is a complete mindf@#$ of note!!! Major spoiler alert: Larissa... initially I could totally understand her - not sure I could empathise, but understand - somehow, all that novelty, but then, how many mistakes can one make? And how many chances do you need to redeem yourself and rectify your mess? Surely, at some point she would have woken up? When she went to the Philippines and at the end found out that her husband had sent money, and a letter - and all she could do was go back to Kai - who'd been totally ignoring her - saying that she owed him that much at least?!!! And to top it all, she takes Jared's money? And is too much of a coward to even say goodbye to Che's daughter? She finally had an opportunity to make it up to a child, albeit not her own. Humph, how disgusting and selfish can someone be? She owed Kai and didn't owe her family anything? Grrr, I think I'm going crazy. Through it all, she learn't nothing... she was so likable to start off with, that I could even forgive her affair(!); and so despicable at the end, the embodiment of selfishness. She had everything so clearly elucidated by Father Emilio, I thought she'd take it with open hands - but all she took with open hands was more of Jared's money! My heart broke for her kids... they couldn't even talk about her, just lived in hope...what hell it must have been, to never get any answers. Oh my! I don't know what to think of this book, whether I loved it or hated it...
